About Me
I'm Katy, a fashion and textile historian specializing in the early
modern period, an enthusiastic performer, and all around creative type
who loves to play dress up and can't seem to stop buying books. I have a
deep passion for everything I do, from quietly reading about
eighteenth-century fashion to singing an aria in a huge auditorium. I
have a BA in Dramatic Arts with a minor in Vocal Performance from the
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (class of 2011), and an MA
in Visual Culture: Costume Studies from New York University (class of
2013). I have worked at several museums including the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising Museum, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Chicago History Museum. In 2012, I spent a year creating
a new archive for Judith Leiber, taking on the roles of archivist,
collections manager, and curator. My research interests include the interplay of politics, philosophy, and design with a focus on
eighteenth-century French and English fashion and textiles and the history
of ballet costuming.
